President Joseph Nyuma Boakai of the Republic of Liberia Visits Our Hospital
President Joseph Nyuma Boakai of the Republic of Liberia Visits Our Hospital.

Background of the Visit
President Boakai and his delegation visited Japan to attend the 9th Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD 9), held from August 20 to 22, 2025.
In light of the long-standing partnership between Liberia and the Tokushukai Group—through the donation of dialysis equipment, signing of MoU, medical staff training, and technical assistance—the President paid a courtesy visit to our hospital.
These collaborative efforts have borne significant fruit, most notably the establishment of Liberia’s first dialysis center in March 2022.
Highlights of the Day
Dr. Kobayashi shared the history of Tokushukai’s contributions to Liberia, including dialysis equipment donations and training exchanges, and reflected on how these initiatives culminated in the opening of Liberia’s first dialysis center.
Ms. Ohashi, Chief Strategic Officer, presented an overview of our hospital and highlighted our ongoing support activities across Africa, showcasing examples of training outcomes and technology transfer.
President Boakai expressed his heartfelt gratitude for these efforts and shared his deep appreciation for the Tokushukai philosophy: “All living beings are created equal.” He also expressed his hope for continued collaboration, particularly in the field of human resource development.
The delegation was then guided through our hospital, visiting the Blood Purification Center—where past training programs had been conducted—as well as the TomoTherapy unit, gaining insights into our advanced facilities and operations.
During the visit, President Boakai also enjoyed a traditional Japanese meal of tonkatsu at our hospital restaurant, “Dining Shokama.” The visit concluded with a warm farewell and commemorative group photograph with our staff.
Looking Ahead
This visit served as a great source of encouragement for our hospital. We remain firmly committed to promoting international medical cooperation while continuing to provide dedicated and compassionate care to our local community.
