Shonan Kamakura General Hospital Signs MoUs with Vietnam National Cancer Hospital and Bach Mai Hospital
Shonan Kamakura General Hospital, the core hospital of Japan’s Tokushukai Group, has officially signed Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) with two of Vietnam’s leading national hospitals: the Vietnam National Cancer Hospital (K Hospital) and Bach Mai Hospital. These agreements focus on collaboration in advanced medical services and healthcare workforce development.
Background of the MoUs
The MoUs aim to:
- Establish a cooperative relationship with K Hospital, Vietnam’s premier cancer specialty hospital.
- Establish a cooperative relationship with Bach Mai Hospital, the largest general hospital in northern Vietnam.
These strategic partnerships are established between Shonan Kamakura General Hospital, the core hospital of Japan’s largest private medical group, Tokushukai, and two of Vietnam’s most prominent national hospitals. The agreements foster the sharing of medical expertise and knowledge while enhancing the quality of healthcare services in both countries.

Collaboration with K Hospital
- K Hospital is the leading cancer hospital in Vietnam, at the forefront of the nation’s oncology care.
- The MoU will combine Shonan Kamakura General Hospital’s advanced and comprehensive cancer treatments with K Hospital’s extensive clinical experience to enhance the quality of care and promote workforce development.
- The collaboration aims to provide new treatment opportunities for patients in Vietnam and internationally, while expanding humanitarian medical support.
Collaboration with Bach Mai Hospital
- Bach Mai Hospital, built with support from Japan’s Official Development Assistance (ODA) and often referred to as the “Japan–Vietnam Hospital,” is northern Vietnam’s largest general hospital and a central provider of advanced medical care.
- The MoU emphasizes collaboration across multiple specialties—including cancer treatment, cardiology, transplantation, and dialysis—to address complex medical needs.
- By combining Shonan Kamakura General Hospital’s advanced medical technology with Bach Mai Hospital’s comprehensive clinical experience and educational capacity, the partnership aims to maximize the strengths of both institutions.
- The collaboration will also create new treatment opportunities for patients in Vietnam and abroad, expanding humanitarian healthcare support.
